My son Eddie who is disabled and in a wheelchair needed to have a trach put in last November to help with his breathing problems. Yesterday he had an appt. with the doctor to have his trach replaced. After the replacement the doctor checked his airway to be sure it was ok. He said it was clear. Everything went well until we left the doctors office. We had medical transportation and my son Eddie had his homecare nurse with him also. We put him in the van and all of a sudden he had alot of trouble breathing. His homecare nurse tried suctioning out his trach and then all of a sudden he passed out. There was no pulse. The driver who is also a firefighter said "we're going NOW" meaning to the emergency room. Thankfully we were just down the road. He drove us as fast as he could there. We arrived probably about 7 to 8 minutes later. In the emergency room there was no heartbeat. They did chest compressions and gave him medications. He finally came around. The doctor told me he was without oxygen for approximately 20 minutes. (A total of about 30 minutes including the trip to er). Then the pediactric doctor put drops in his eyes and a couple of other tests to see what his response would be. He did not respond at all. I told the doctor he has a history of asperation (breathing something into your lungs). The doctor told me he probably has brain damage. So now he is in pediatric ICU. He has tremors. His eyes are opening & closing involuntarily. He is on a ventilator but some of the breathing is on his own. An eeg was done and it came back not the same as his other eeg's were in the past. Now it's a wait and see to how he will "recover". When a problem arrises then they will respond to that problem. Because they really don't know how he will recover. Eddie has a twin brother who is also disabled and in a wheelchair. I would like the KISS Army to "join hands" for my son Eddie and PLEASE pray for him. I believe in the power of prayer and the KISS army is large and strong. Thank you to anyone who does this for him. Right now he is listening to his "live to win" cd. I brought KISS cd's and some others also. I also have the "KISS Behind The Mask" book that I read to him. KISS PLEASE post this on your news page. Thank you so much! Janice

Just thought you guys would like to hear about a little theme we are doing for our local Relay For Life. "KISS Cancer Goodbye" We will be raising money with our friends The Gwinnett County Tax Team to fight Cancer in all it's forms. We will be dressed in our KISS Best taking donations for the cause.
