KISS-Themed Mini-Golf Course Takes the Show to a New Venue

by Mike Bederka / www.iaapa.org

Grab the roadies. KISS by Monster Mini-Golf heads to a bigger stage this month.

With the mega bands blessing, this popular rock-themed miniature-golf course will move a few miles down the road from the shadow of the Hard Rock Caf Las Vegas to inside the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino.

The Rio approached us as they had heard we may be interested in moving our venue, says CEO/founder Christina Vitagliano. Once we began speaking, both parties came to the conclusion the move could be a win-win, and were very excited to become a part of Caesars Entertainment.

In a star-studded opening party in 2012, complete with a tribute band shredding in the parking lot, an Elvis impersonator in KISS makeup, and all the groups current members in attendance, KISS by Monster Mini-Golf debuted with much fanfare.

People come to us all the time with ideas, said Paul Stanley, KISS cofounder and singer/guitarist, at the time. But you need resources to implement it. You need a vision. We thought it would be a great marriage.

Many of the courses key props, like an oversized version of Stanleys Starchild boot and KISS cofounder and singer/bassist Gene Simmons 18th hole giant demon head, will be transferred over to the new 13,000-square-foot space.

Vitagliano shares a few highlights from the past four years and what else members of the KISS Army can expect at the Rio:

Meet and GreetThe venue will feature an info center that offers up-to-the-minute details on all things KISS, including how a fan can hang out with a band member one-on-one.

Always on the MarketFans can get a peek at a wide assortment of KISS memorabilia throughout the venue. Among the hundreds of pieces on display: original drummer Peter Criss Spirit of 76 tour, stage-used drum stool; every KISS album signed by all band members; and a 70s KISS pinball machine. However, for Vitaglianos favorite item, she points to former drummer Eric Carrs Porsche gifted to him by Stanley and Simmons when he signed with the group. (Carr died in 1991 from heart cancer.) Its a very sentimental piece of KISStory, she says, noting the course adds memorabilia as fans contact her to display or sell rare items.

Brush of FameAnticipate more rock stars putting the new 18-hole course. At the old place, Joe Elliott of Def Leppard, Sebastian Bach, Howard Leese of Heart, and members of Guns N Roses, Survivor, Imagine Dragons, Five Finger Death Punch, and more all took a swing on the course.

Get in GearThe gift shop sells a wide assortment of officially licensed KISS products, including T-shirts, golf balls, fragrance, and hats. However, fans also can snatch high-end band costumes that can run more than $500.

Only in VegasAt the old space, besides seeing a half-million guests since it opened, the facility hosted hundreds of special events, birthdays, and weddings in the Hotter Than Hell Wedding Chapel. The new rock-themed chapel will be the exclusive wedding chapel for the entire Rio venue.

All Access Pass: Gene Simmons

By Billy Kidd / 100.3 JACK FM

Wow, talking with Gene Simmons was awesome! I might be a little biased since I had Kiss posters on my wall when I was a kid and my first album ever KISS Alive II. But Gene is as interesting as I thought he would be and super nice as well!

Gene and I talked about his new restaurant Rock & Brews in The Colony. Gene and fellow KISS member Paul Stanley will be in town to celebrate the grand opening Tuesday May 10th. Theyll have a special luncheon that day with part of the proceeds benefiting veterans and the local charity AirBorne Angel Cadets of Texas.

Gene said that he feels strongly about the military and that giving back is the least we can do. Simmons mom was in a concentration camp during World War II. She might have died if it werent for the Americans. Gene said. The family moved from Israel to the U.S. when Gene was eight. He says America is the greatest country in the world so why not celebrate those who make our freedom available to us.

I asked Gene about his comments on N.W.A and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Although Simmons has a ton of respect for the group including Ice Cube, he said they belong in the hip hop hall of fame but not the R&R HOF. He said itd be like putting Kiss in the Jazz Hall of Fame. I think he has a point!

I wanted to get Genes take on the presidential race. He said it didnt matter what he thought and that Celebrities should basically shut the F up and let Americans vote their conscience when they get into the ballot.

KISS has the reputation for being one of the best live acts of all time. I saw them when they last came through Dallas. It was the middle of the summer, the band was up on stage sweating, pouring everything they had into their performance. I asked how he can put so much work into each show and he said the secret is You gotta remember where you came from. Gene added that hes done several different jobs and being a rock star is a privilege and he acts like each concert is the only concert hell do in his life.

KISS cover song causing quite a stir in France!

Sacre Bleus! Outrage in France after official anthem for national team's bid for Euro 2016 glory is released - and it's in ENGLISH

By Jay Akbar / Daily Mail

A French minister on Monday described the use of an English language song as the official anthem for French supporters at Euro 2016 as 'incomprehensible'.

Secretary of state for Francophony, Andre Vallini, said the French Football Federation's decision to choose a cover of 'I Was Made for Lovin' You' performed by group Skip The Use was 'very concerning'.

He added: 'Euro 2016 will be a great festival of sport which is taking place in France and will therefore project the image of our country abroad. And our language too.

'It is therefore incomprehensible that the anthem of the French national team should be in English,' Vallini said.

The song, originally performed by American rock veterans Kiss, has been renamed 'I Was Made for Lovin' You, My Team' for the tournament.

Skip The Use's lead singer Mat Bastard said the group was asked to record the song ahead of others by French singers Charles Trenet and Jean-Jacques Goldman, 'because it was the song which meant the most to us'.

Vallini also bemoaned the fact that France's entry in this year's Eurovision Song Contest, 'J'ai cherche' by Amir, features a chorus largely in English.

He said: 'At a time when we are defending the place of the French language in international institutions, and especially European institutions.
