Vampirella Rocks with KISS in KISS/Vampirella this June

By Staff Reports / http://pastramination.com

Dynamite Entertainment proudly brings together two of its bestselling brands for a horror/music extravaganza in KISS/Vampirella #1, the debut issue in a new comic book series uniting the legendary rock n roll ban with the comic industrys iconic mistress of the macabre! Written by Chris Sebela (Captain Marvel, Alien vs. Predator) and illustrated by Annapaola Martello (Scarlet Witch, Spider-Gwen), KISS/Vampirella will be a miniseries event launching in June 2017.

Los Angeles is a strange town on the best of days, but in the summer of 1974, the City of Angels feels especially demonic. As temperatures soar and wildfires burn, all sorts of strange creatures are drawn to town including Vampirella. While Vampi goes out and hunts down monsters all across La La Land defending humanity from evil shes also killing it every night on stage as a member of an all-girl rock group defending rock n roll from a dying scene. Help arrives in the form of four creatures whove just flown into town: The Starchild, The Demon, The Spaceman, and The Catman. Away from their home turf and trying to record their new album, KISS discovers that all their favorite L.A. bands have mysteriously broken up, disappeared, sold out, or gone crazy. Led by a driver who moonlights in the occult and haunted by satanic strangers dressed in black, KISS finds themselves drawn into a web of conspiracy that threatens to kill rock n roll itself!

Gene Simmons says, I have been in love with Vampirella (who hasnt?), ever since Forry Ackerman created her. I knew Forry, and he spoke fondly of Vampi, almost as if she was real. For a wide-eyed kid who grew up voraciously devouring the pages of Warren publications (including Famous Monsters of Filmland), its a personal thrill to witness this momentous event in our four-decades-old, proud comic book history. I cant wait to see and read KISS/Vampirella.

Writer Chris Sebela says, Setting it in the 1970s, I wanted the book to feel like a drive-in movie at times, but one that has a heart to it and actual characters. Because KISS is so much larger than life, its no fun if they dont have something pushing back against them. Having them in their early days, theres more room to throw them into the action and have them be unsure what to do. Thats where the fun happens. Theres big action scenes, sleazy clubs, scary strangers dressed all in black, crazy monsters, and on-stage pyrotechnics. Its as fun as it is dark, I hope! Meanwhile, Vampirella is seen so often as a kind of lone monster hunter that I really wanted to see Vampirella in a group situation. She has to get along with them and they have to work together to get things done. So I put her in a band. Its an all-girl rock group with a witchy gimmick. I got to create the rest of the band members and establish their look with artist Annapaola Martello and I got to write songs, which no one ever told me how much fun that is.

KISS' Gene Simmons to headline music festival in Braman

By Jimmie Tramel / Tulsa World

Gene Simmons of KISS is coming back to a little town in north central Oklahoma. This time, hes performing.

On Jan. 12, Simmons and band mate Paul Stanley traveled to Braman to announce they are partnering with the Kaw Nation to bring a Rock & Brews Casino Resort to Kay County.

On Monday, it was announced that Simmons will return to Braman to headline an all-day outdoor music festival at Southwind Casino. The festival will take place Thursday, April 6. Simmons performance will begin at 7:30 p.m.

I cannot wait to perform for my devoted fans here in Oklahoma, where Im always greeted with a warm welcome, Simmons said in the press release. Im also thrilled to play on the future site of the Rock & Brews Casino Resort.

The press release described the event as a day-long celebration of music, food and fun for all ages.

The festival will take place rain or shine and will include food trucks, a beer tent and hourly performances by various rock acts. Among performers are Drowning Pool, Taddy Porter, BC and the Big Rig, Nicnos and Jenny Wood. Doors will open at 1 p.m., and performances begin at 2 p.m.

A Queen of Rock Pageant will take place at 7 p.m., just before Simmons takes the stage.

General admission tickets are $35. Reserved seats are $50 and are eligible for an upgrade to meet Simmons for an additional $100. Tickets can be purchased at southwindcasino.com. Tickets will come with a Match Play valid one time only to be used at the casino from April 7-30 and a free appetizer to be redeemed at the Rock & Brews restaurant in Oklahoma City.

Simmons and Stanley are among partners in the Rock & Brews restaurant brand, and they are making their first venture into the casino resort business.

You dont know how big this is going to become, Simmons said while in Braman in January. Youve got to remember, Las Vegas was desert once upon a time. Now, 44 million people come into Las Vegas every year. If we get 1/100th of that coming here, its going to be an explosion.

According to a fact sheet distributed when plans for the casino were announced, the casino resort will include a 250-room hotel with a spa and fitness center, a 77,528-square-foot casino, a bingo hall, a conference center, four luxury retail stores, a travel plaza/truck stop and a 1,500-seat event center.

It isnt just going to be a fancy place where rock stars and beautiful women and gaming is going to go on, Simmons said in January.

Its actually going to substantially increase everybodys life quality in and around the area. People are going to come here from all over the world.

Videos: Gene Simmons & His Band at Clevelands The Agora

Notes from Gene:

"OK kids, here's a song I don't think KISS ever played live. It's off of LOVE GUN. GOT LOVE FOR SALE, which was originally cut as a demo featuring Alex Van Halen (on drums) and Edward Van Halen (on rhythm and lead guitar) and yours truly on bass.

This was played impromptu at Cleveland's legendary The Agora two days ago, in response to the overwhelming requests I got from our sold out audience.

We had a ball doing it. Hope you like it too.

Playing Cleveland's Agora brought back lots of memories when KISS first played there in 1974.

Wizard World Con brought me in to play a set with my band, and we all had a ball.

Rockin' Johnny is a local celebrity In Cleveland. He is a young man with what some might consider a disability, but I consider rockstar attitude.

Watch him take center stage and grab the mic.

We will see you at the other four WizardWorld.Com events.
