Chances are you've seen numerous iconic pictures by award-winning photographer Lynn Goldsmith, who has photographed every important rock musician and band of the late twentieth century: The Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen, The Police, Talking Heads, Frank Zappa, Bob Dylan, and Patti Smith, among many others. Published in conjunction with the band, KISS: 1977 - 1980 is the definitive photographic chronicle of KISS at the height of their popularity, showcasing the band on and off stage, in the photo studio, and in unguarded candid moments. From her archive, Goldsmith has compiled fan favorites as well as many never-before-seen photographs, all which perfectly capture the enduring phenomenon that is KISS.

KISS rose to meteoric prominence with their extravagant live performances featuring fire-breathing, blood spitting, guitars bursting into flames, shooting rockets, levitating drum kits, and pyrotechnic showpieces. With makeup and costumes, Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Peter Criss, and Ace Frehley created characters and origin stories similar to comic book characters: the Starchild, the Demon, the Space Ace, and the Catman. When put all together, it wasnt just a stadium rock concert, it was dynamic performance art that is still on the road today!

Goldsmith, Stanley, and Simmons have created this book as a thanks to the KISS Army, many of whom have been devoted to the band for more than 40 years and have brought their children and grandchildren into appreciating the music, as well as the spectacle of the bands live performances. With a simple matte white laminated padded cover that highlights the KISS logo and edged with gilding, the end result could be compared to a kind of bible, holding the relics that their supporters cherish.

Hurricane Harvey relief fund established for Kingwood High School Fine Arts Department

Donations can be made through http://www.humbleisd.net/donate2khs

Used and new instruments can be sent to:
Summer Creek High School 14000 Weckford Blvd. Houston, TX 77044

KISS saw the reports of the devastation from Hurricane Harvey and was motivated to do something to help the Houston area community. Word came about Kingwood High Schools flooding that destroyed all of the band and orchestra instruments as well as shut down the school for this school year and KISS decided they would focus on the school and launch a campaign to help replace their instruments.

Over 350 Kingwood students were bussed in for the show complete with KISS make-up. KISS met with the students and took pictures and invited them to perform with them during the classic rock anthem Rock and Roll All Night. Students dressed in their high school uniforms and colors flooded the aisles and front of the stage to dance to the song amidst the shower of confetti. Paul Stanley then informed the crowd about the launch of the fundraising campaign.

KISS committed to donating a number of instruments to the school and to help spread the word to get Kingwood High School back on their feet and the Grammy Museum pledged to help spread the word about the campaign.

KISS is honored to light the match to create awareness for the devastating losses suffered by Kingwood High School. Music must be kept alive, so we encourage all of the KISS Army to rise up and donate as they can to help get Kingwood High School back on their feet! said KISS Manager Doc McGhee.
