Kulick Brothers Set Sail on KISS Kruise VII

www.espguitars.com / Photo by Julie Bergonz

Batten down the hatches; the seventh KISS Kruise is setting sail from New Orleans on November 5, and two of the mighty sailors are none other than Bruce and Bob Kulick, the guitar-slinging brothers who've both made their mark on the KISS army. As you're probably aware, Bruce was a member of KISS from 1984-1996, making him one of the longest-tenured lead guitar players in the band. Older brother Bob was a close associate of the band who was a secret weapon when they were in the studio, performing on albums such Alive II and several others.

During the Kiss Kruise, Bruce and Bob will playing a set of deep cuts and hits from their work with the iconic band. Theyll be using their favorite ESP guitars on the pool deck, and also for the main stage event on November 5th at 9PM. The cruise itself heads from New Orleans to Cozumel and Costa Maya, so there will be plenty of opportunities to see the Kulick brothers. Bruce is a passionate collector of ESP and LTD guitars, favoring Viper models, while Bob's ESP collection includes a number of custom shop guitars (like his Silver Sparkle Eclipse).

Lynn Goldsmith talks KISS: 1977-1980!

CLICK HERE to listen to Podcast: The Markers of Our BlissLynn Goldsmith and Rock n Roll

With her latest book, KISS: 1977-1980, just released, legendary rock n roll photographer Lynn Goldsmith joins us to talk about her time with this extraordinary band and what drew her to photograph and befriend them. In addition to the stories behind some of her iconic photos of Van Halen, Bob Dylan, Frank Zappa, and Prince, we also speak with Goldsmith about her other creative outlets. Did you know that she released an album under the name Will Powers, was co-manager of the band Grand Funk Railroad and photographed for the National Lampoon?

Throughout her career, Goldsmith has demonstrated an ability to photograph musicians in a manner that embodies not only their personalities, but even their music and, as is the case with her new book, with an understanding of what the bands fans want to see. We ask her about changes in music publicity over the years and the varying approaches she might take when shooting in-studio, at a live concert, or with an artist in a more casual setting. We also chat about other aspects of her photographic work and what her music and celebrity portraiture shares with her documentary and fine art work. The magic of photography and the joy of creativity burn bright in Lynn Goldsmith, so join us for this enjoyable and insightful conversation.

If you are in the Los Angeles area on November 3, 2017, join Lynn Goldsmith and Paul Stanley from KISS for a special presentation and book signing at the Barnes & Noble bookstore at The Grove.

KISS army, unite! Gene Simmons is returning to Australia for solo shows in 2018

This. Is. Wild.

The solo tour will kick off in Adelaide on 1 February 2018, before stopping in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

Were expecting the KISS army out in force for this one, as the rock n roll legend takes to the stage with his touring band.

Talking about the shows, Gene Simmons said today, Doing these smaller concert halls, which hold a thousand to three thousand people, means they get filled up by real die hard fans. They dont want to hear the same-old, same-old. They want to hear nuggets, as they say. Its a hoot for me because Ive never really had a chance to do this stuff live. Its been a lot of fun.

With that, fans can expect to hear a different setlist from the music icon each night, with plenty of KISS gems thrown in for good measure.

The Gene Simmons band includes Ryan Cook (guitar/vocals), Jeremy Asbrock (guitar/vocals), and Phil Shouse (guitar/vocals), from Nashvilles The Rock N Roll Residency and ex Motley Crue vocalist John Corabis solo band. Brent Fitz will be adding to the mayhem on drums, who completes the monster lineup thats guaranteed to deliver a thrilling live show in Feb.

Gene will also kick off the tour with the release of The Vault; a deeply personal soundtrack to his life, condensed into a 50-year time capsule (1966 2016). The Vault features 150 recordings from notable rock n roll artists including his KISS band mates.
