Rock Bottom: Thieves Steal KISS Tribute Band's Gear

Please help my friends in the tribute band KISS ARMY locate their stolen gear! Their story was aired on a Kentucky news station - here is the video link: http://www.wlky.com/video/22240582/index.html And here is the story: Rock Bottom: Thieves Steal Kiss Tribute Band's Gear $6,000 Drum Kit, Custom 'Kiss Army' Sign Among Missing Items By Ben Jackey/WLKY POSTED: 4:38 pm EST January 14, 2010 UPDATED: 2:04 pm EST January 15, 2010 LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Police are looking for some very distinct stolen property belonging to a very distinct musical act. Recently someone took thousands of dollars in instruments, props and the group's trailer. Kiss Army is a well-known Kiss tribute band. As you might imagine, the stolen equipment is flamboyant and distinct. Police have their suspects, but the gear remains elusive. "Only a close personal few know how deep this really goes." There are fans, and there is Steve. "They made me want to be a musician, especially Peter Criss," he said. And a few hundred times a year, Steve is Peter Criss, one of the four painted faces of the self-proclaimed coolest band in the world, the Kiss Army. For 18 years, they've dressed to kill in full Kiss regalia, packing fairs, casinos and festivals, rocking and rolling all night, and partying every day. Kiss Army was on the verge of making a move to Las Vegas as a house band act when their trailer was stolen. Inside: a guitar, Ampeg bass cabinet, a huge "Kiss" sign, and a $6,000 drum kit. "Here we are, right around the corner from creating our finest moment in our history, and to have someone potentially derail that is heartbreaking," said Steve, who asked that WLKY not use his full name. "We're starving and striving at the same time. We can't afford to have something like this happen." Jeffersontown police said days after the theft, two men walked into Music-Go-Round and attempted to sell some of the goods. Christopher Goff and Austin Becker were arrested. Detectives also locked up Joe Morel and James Riggs. "They didn't get any cooperation whatsoever out of them trying to locate the property," Steve said. "Basically, I'm at a dead end now. You've got a Kiss lighted sign. I don't know what purpose that's going to serve." This Kentucky-based band has several big gigs looming. So to those with their gear? To quote Steve's idols, "Don'tcha hesitate." "Hopefully these guys will step up to the plate on their own account and say, 'I know what I did was wrong. Times are tough. Here it is. What am I going to do with a Kiss drum set?'" he said. The stolen items include: -2007 Haulmark trailer, VIN 16HPB12207H156877 -Pearl 15-drum set, black with chrome pin stripes; eight Zildjian cymbals and one gong with Japanese writing -Ampeg bass cabinet with SVT head -Large "coffin sized" case for drums with "Christie Lites" in white lettering -Stage props and Kiss Army sign

The new KISS generation

Hey Guys, Just wanted to send you a picture of my kids, Eric & Kaitlyn at your concert last summer in Sarnia, ON Canada. I've been a KISS fan since 1975, when I was only 3 years old and my older brother brought home Dressed to Kill. Since then I've seen you many times, but I've always wondered what it would be like to bring my own kids to your show and experience the magic of a KISS concert with them. Well, last July I finally got the chance and needless to say, you didn't dissapoint! They were both amazed by the show and couldn't believe what they saw. They also loved putting on the KISS make-up before the concert and we received many compliments that day. Since this was only their first concert, I think they will have a hard time topping it. Might as well start at the top! Thanks for being there for me and thanks for being there for my kids too! Rock on, Mark Campagnolo

Even Through Adversity!

Dear KISS, I have been a devoted KISS fan for 35+ years but had never seen the band live. When I turned 60 in September (just one week after Gene!), my only wish was to see your Alive 35 concert in Calgary, Alberta, Canada on November 12, 2009. Well, my husband surprised me with two tickets so I could also take my girlfriend along, too!! I live in Lethbridge, which is about 120 miles from Calgary, so the 24 of us who had tickets to attend the concert rented a limo bus for the trip up and back. Everything was set... However, on the evening of November 11, I fell down a flight of stairs at our house. I was rushed to the ER where they did X-rays and found out that I broke not only my elbow but my scapula (shoulder blade), as well. A cast was put on my arm and, as the male nurse was putting on a sling, I was in tears because your concert was the following night and I could not imagine how I was going to be able to make the trip to Calgary while in so much pain. This nurse assured me that, if I took the painkillers they were giving me, I would definitely be able to go! So, after only three hours sleep (sitting up), my husband and girlfriend helped me get ready for the trip to Calgary. They both came with me and, with one one on each side, we managed to make it in and out of the Saddledome without anyone running into my arm. The concert was absolutely fantastic and I was literally in tears as I watched my favorite band perform live!!! We boarded the limo bus after the concert and, after making me comfortable with mounds of pillows, we were ready to make the 2 1/2 hour trip back home. All of a sudden, I looked up and a man dressed like Gene Simmons walked up the steps and was standing right in front of me! He carefully leaned toward me so my girlfriend could take a picture (attached). Although I felt pretty miserable at that point, this certainly gave me reason to smile! Anyway, I just want to thank all of you for the fantastic concert that night and for fulfilling my dream of seeing you perform live! You are the absolute BEST and I am so glad I was able to attend. (By the way, still in physio-therapy and, since there is muscle damage, may end up having surgery on my shoulder.) Sincerely, Donna Lien
