Erebus Pictures' first of three films, 'Temple,' will begin shooting this summer

Gene Simmons and WWE Studios are teaming up to form Erebus Pictures, a new studio that will finance and produce "elevated horror movies," according to a press release.

The co-production deal calls for three films, starting with Temple, which was originally acquired and developed by WWE Studios. Erebus Pictures � named for the Greek primordial deity representing darkness � will begin production on their second movie later this year.

Matt Savelloni (Exile to Babylon) wrote the film, which is scheduled to begin filming this summer. The film tells the story of a team of highly trained operatives who find themselves locked in a military compound and confronted with "strange and horrific phenomena" as they try to figure out how the previously stationed team met their demise.

"The horror genre continues to fascinate me as it proves to be endlessly thrilling and engaging for audiences," Simmons said in a statement. The Kiss bassist has, of course, always had a knack for striking fear into the hearts of the meek, gaining particular notoriety for his onstage blood-spewing antics.

Simmons' new venture with Erebus isn't his first foray into the horror world. He appeared in the 1986 film, Trick of Treat, playing a rock DJ who helps a young metal fan resurrect his favorite musician. Ozzy Osbourne also scored a cameo in the movie, hilariously playing a conservative blowhard who trashes metal on a daytime talk show.

Kiss and Simmons have been relatively quiet at the top of 2015 as they prepare for the international leg of their massive 40th anniversary tour. The group trekked across N. America last summer and will hit the road again this spring, starting April 10th in Bogota, Colombia. Along with last year's 40th anniversary celebrations, Kiss was finally inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of fame after 15 years of eligibility

Hey Buena Park, do you wanna rock and roll all night and party every day? And um, have some hot wings and pizza? Because The Starchild and The Demon, a.k.a. Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons of KISS, are going to open a branch of their Rock & Brews restaurant right across from Medieval Times and their sword-clanging knights.

The groundbreaking is going to happen next Monday, March 30th, with Buena Park Mayor Art Brown and probably select members of The KISS Army. The restaurant is slated to open this summer at 7777 Beach Boulevard, Buena Park, which for now�at least from the Google Street View I checked (no, I�ve not been around there lately)�is just an empty lot.

If you haven�t heard of it, the first Rock & Brews opened in El Segundo in 2012 and has since expanded to more locations including Redondo Beach, LAX, Maui, Albuquerque, and Orlando. The word is they�re planning about 100 more restaurants in the coming years. Hard Rock Cafe, I think they�re gunning for you.

The spacious restaurant will feature Rock & Brews� quality American comfort food, a full bar with one of the area�s largest selections of craft and international beers, and premium wines, in an atmosphere that is a tribute to rock and roll with a stage for live music performances, dozens of flat screens streaming some of the greatest rock concert moments of all time, bold trusses with concert-style lighting, oversized rock art including canvasses of legendary rock album covers and notable rock images, as well as the brand�s iconic Great Wall of Rock. Guests will be able to dine indoors or al fresco on expansive patios, which, in addition to outdoor dining, will feature lounge areas with fire features, a professional beach volleyball court, and a large play area for kids. The restaurant will also be dog friendly. And, for those on the go, there will be an easily accessible Rock & Brews �To Go� area. Rock & Brews will also be available for private events.

They raised money all night so cancer patients can party every day.

Peter Criss, a founding member of Kiss, and other celebs came to town to fight cancer in the Beauty Foundation for Cancer Care's 9th annual Beauty Ball, held Saturday, March 14 at the Robert J. Collins Arena on the campus of Brookdale Community College in Lincroft.

Criss, a male breast cancer survivor, presented the Peter Criss Man of Courage Award to Connor Phelps, a 21-year-old Arizona college student who is currently battling Leukemia.

"I try to get the awareness to men that we get it," Criss said. "Men don't know. What annoys me is that it's called breast cancer. Bingo, right off the bat, it's breast cancer. Why isn't it called pec cancer?"

Criss was diagnosed in 2007. He's since become an advocate to raise awareness about the disease.

"Every year I meet 20 18-year-old boys (who have breast cancer) and they don't know what to do," said Criss, who lives in Wall. "They're embarrassed. It's a chick's disease. Only girls get it."

"My battle is I just want guys to know they can get it, and if they can detect it immediately (they can be cured,)'' Criss said. Early detection "saved my life and I've now become very involved. These lovely girls (of the Beauty Foundation) invite me every year to give out the Peter Criss Man of Courage Award and it's a legacy. I started Kiss, but this is really cool; this is important."
