Before they elevated the arena rock spectacle to an art form, KISS were, like any young rock band, playing in their hometown clubs of New York, trying to build a following and perfect their sound.

That was more than four decades ago. Since then they have become one of the top-selling rock bands of all time, members of the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame and, as stated, absolute masters of the arena rock show, right up there with AC/DC and Alice Cooper as the ultimate purveyors of the rock show.

Now, as the band embarks on the "End Of The Road" tour, calling it a day from the touring lifestyle, it seemed fitting to pay tribute to those early days. As Paul Stanley said from the stage tonight at the legendary confines of the intimate Whisky A Go Go on the Sunset Strip, if bands want to make it, they have to get out and play in front of people, not on a TV talent show.

So, KISS took the stage at the Whisky February 11, for a SiriusXM show that marked their first club gig on over 20 years. In the smaller space there were no pyrotechnics, though there was a lot of confetti from the ceiling. In fact, Stanley joked the band couldn't do an encore because they were too big to leave the stage.

The performance will air on Tuesday, February 12 at 5:00 pm ET on KISS Army Radio, channel 30, and through the SiriusXM app on smartphones and other connected devices, as well as online at siriusxm.com. The concert will air on Howard Stern's Howard 101 channel on Friday, February 15 at 9:00pm ET.

Sacramento performance artist David Garibaldi has been opening for KISS on their world tour since Jan. 31.

Garibaldi believes this performance is a chance to give back to his community and inspire others.

“I hope people young and old and in between, I hope they are all inspired that no matter where you come from, even a place like Sacramento, is a place where you can start your dream and continue on and even bring your full circle back home,” Garibaldi said.

The money raised from auctioning off his paintings will be donated to 916 Ink, a Sacramento nonprofit that publishes books written by children.

Special, invitation-only concert, part of new "The Party Continues" live performance series, to air on the band's exclusive SiriusXM channel and on Howard Stern's Howard 101 channel

KISS will perform an intimate invitation-only show for SiriusXM subscribers and VIPs tomorrow at LA's famed Whisky a Go Go on the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles. The exclusive performance will air on KISS' exclusive SiriusXM channel, KISS Army Radio. 

The special concert for SiriusXM will feature KISS performing songs from the band's 46-year career. This marks the first time KISS has played a club in over twenty years and will be their first performance at the world famous Whisky a Go Go in Los Angeles, the venerable rock club on the Sunset Strip that has played host to rock 'n' roll's most important bands and artists, from The Doors, to Janis Joplin, to Led Zeppelin, as well as today's emerging new artists.

KISS, in the midst of their END OF THE ROAD WORLD TOUR, kicks off the series at the historic Whisky a Go Go. "The Party Continues" joins a series of concerts established by SiriusXM at special and iconic venues across the country, including at the Apollo Theater in New York City, The Stephen Talkhouse in the Hamptons, the Faena Theater in Miami Beach and more.

KISS, the indomitable rock quartet known best for their Kabuki make-up and over-the-top performances, played what will likely go down as their final San Diego show on Thursday night.

Band founders Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons, alongside longtime band members Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer, brought their End of the Road World Tour to a packed Viejas Arena, where even the gigantic promotional banners called it out as “The Final Tour Ever.”

And while many have pointed to the fact that the band already had a “final” tour nearly two decades ago (one that included original members Ace Frehley and Peter Criss), everything on Thursday night gave the impression of a heartfelt farewell.   

During their 20-song, 2-plus hour set, the band repeatedly thanked San Diego for its part in their 45-year career, from helping the band get inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame to serving as the location for the iconic photo inside of their 1977 smash concert album, KISS Alive II.

Stanley was also quick to point out that KISS first played San Diego in 1974, and that he considered it “an honor” to return to the city for one last show.

For me, it wasn’t the supposed finality of it all that made it special. I have seen the band multiple times. First, in 1998 when they weren’t donning their trademark stage makeup and costuming. Again in 2010 when they were, and strangely, once in 2014 when they played before the first-ever NHL hockey game at Dodger Stadium.
