Bert Newton, dressed as Gene, was the king of Australian stage and screen. Here he is on the Don Lane Show. An ex-pat yank who was huge in Australia. Don Lane had a connection to KISS - On Lane's 74th birthday in 1980, during an episode of his show he received a telegram from KISS (who at the time were touring in Australia) wishing him a happy birthday and apologising for not being able to be there. He then received a surprise on-set visit from Gene and Ace. During a chat with Ace (who like Lane grew up in the Bronx) it was revealed that they both attended DeWitt Clinton High School Dean Glenny
