10th grade airband contest, my friends Phil, Paul, Scott and myself all built our own replica instruments. My mom made our costumes and we had a college student from the local college do our makeup. We spliced King of the nighttime world and Detroit Rock City together on a cassette tape. Phil (Gene) had a stage malfunction on his part of the makeshift stage where he stepped and it collapsed a foot. He still keep rocking. We managed not to win but in our minds we were the stars of the show. - Steve Matthews
