KISS Not So Alive - I was made for loving you
Posted on 05/24/2020
Good evening, hope all is well. I have been a fan of the Band since a young lad in the late 70's. I joined the Marines right out of high school(89), spent 10 years then was medically discharged as a result of the Gulf War (lungs went bad). I used the G.I. Bill to get my AA degree in computers, then after getting a job, I worked at night to get my Bachelor's degree. Anyway, I started learning small component circuitry and the Raspberry PI, Arduino, etc for fun/hobby.
Anywho, I saw this ladies' website from NY (Lady Ada of adafruit.com) and she had some cool components to "do stuff" . Long story short, I received a 3d printer 1 Christmas, and being a fan of Pez Candy, my mother-in-law gave me a Kiss Pez Candy collection. Then remembering Physco Circus and that McFarland did a run on KISS figures, I bought the Catman Drumset and a couple of the Pez Collection sets (in case I messed up).
Anyway, I loved the marketing and merchandise available and I thought I would repurpose it to make it come to "life", so I went about making a fancy Music Box. I purcharsed the MP3's and soldered up an Mp3 player with 2, 3-watt speakers.
I would like to send a link of a video I sent to the band if they would like to see how I showed respect (I think it is fantastic that KISS and especially Mr Stanley honors the military, so I wanted to pay it back to him). If you look at the video, "Demon" is hooked up to a pump and spews "blood", but since the pandemic, my battery stash is low and so I only turn it on for God of Thunder. Anyway, hope you like the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PrfBAv6_vm0&t=35s
