Army connection since '76

Posted on 07/25/2012
KISS has been a part of my life since my parents bought "Destroyer" for me in 1976. From there, I was a member of the KISS Army since '77 and even won backstage passes for the Denver stop of the Dynasty tour (my dad and I got to meet Gene; he signed my leg cast). Now, 35 years later, I'm a Soldier in the U.S. Army that's returned from a combat tour of duty in Afghanistan and now stationed at Fort Carson, CO, waiting to see KISS in the next few days in Denver (again). After seeing KISS tour after tour, touring myself as a musician for years, and doing a tour of duty, it's more or less come full circle for me. I wish there was a way that I could tell the band (past and present) thank you for doing what you do. You've always been a reliable connection for me either to my past or my present whether I was stateside or not. Thank you also for the support that you show fellow military members. You have no idea how much it means to us to have you acknowledge our existence. "Thank you" isn't enough and doesn't really explain the feeling but I hope that one day I might be able to say it to the band in person. All the best to you Paul, Gene, Eric, and Tommy. -SGT Kenny James 1Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Ft. Carson, CO
