Rare KISS 45 Found

Posted on 07/20/2010
I thought fellow KISS vinyl collectors might get a kick out of seeing an unbelievably rare KISS 45 I found last week in St. Petersburg Florida. It may be one of a kind. Photographed against a mirror is a copy of Ace Frehleys solo single New York Groove / Snowblind. The single was released in the time frame that Casablanca records was using Filmworks labels. There are fairly rare copies of Ace and Pauls solo singles, as well as Strutter 78 floating around that have Camel labels that Casablanca discontinued at least 18 months earlier. This copy of New York Groove has a Camel label on the A side and a Filmworks label on the B side. I paid $2 for the record. In the same store that day I bought an error copy of Alive II for $13 and a Canadian copy of Alive! That had the inner gatefold photos of Hotter than Hell and Dressed To Kill replaced with Destroyer and Dynasty for $20. I think I have a fairly good knowledge of rare KISS vinyl, and I am a lot more excited about this single than I am about those two LPs, despite the error Alive II being worth easily over $400.
