KISS Newcastle

Posted on 05/04/2010
We took our son's to see Kiss for the first time at Sunday's Newcastle show. I've personally been a fan for at least 35years & they were the first rock band i ever listened too. Both son's have now taken up the mantle and are also avid fans. Unfortuneatly, one of my son's, Liam was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer just after xmas and has had a horrid time ever since. We took him in a wheelchair to the gig as he had casts on both legs and couldn't walk, leaving hospital just a day earlier following some chemo treatment. After the show whilst waiting for the crowd to fade away, Doc McGhee ( Tour Manager) came over and introduced himself to us & asked if we'd enjoyed the show. After hearing of Liam's plight he whisked us immediately backstage to the hospitalty suite & arranged for us then & there to meet the band in person after they'd showered and changed. Everyone, Doc, Paul, Gene, Tommy, Eric & all other crew members we met were nothing but the kindest, most hospitable & friendliest people i've ever had the grace to meet. They treated us all but Liam in particular like VIP's. We were offered food, drinks, gifts and all the band signed Liam's casts. We weren't rushed away either even though they must have been completely knackered after what every other Kiss fan in the arena will confirm was one of the greatest performances the band has ever made. I'd just like to say a heart felt big thank you to u all. Thanx Doc for making it possible and being a genuinely generous man.Thanx Paul,Gene,Tommy & Eric for graciously taking the time & making the effort to treat Liam & the family in this special way. Thanx also to the other staff, Danny Francis in particular who have remained in contact and offered additional assistance. I'm proud & honoured to to be Kiss fan. It's nice to know that the men behind the masks are as large in real life as the characters they bring to life on the stage. If you haven't got a ticket to see the show, get one. These guys deserve all the support they get. They're all genuine good guys. the Harper family xx
