Boston Accident?

Dear KISS, I went to the alive 35 tour show in Boston, MA and I was impressed. It was only my second rock concert but I will always remember this one at the best ever. Anyways, during Tommy Thayer's guitar solo, he shot fireworks out of his guitar that knocked down a piece of lighting equipment. Was this an accident? I was watching it and it made me laugh.
