Yesterday our son Benjamin attended a Christmas party hosted by the Rotary Club of Sault Ste. Marie Ontario. Rotary hosts the annual Kid's Christmas party and invites special needs children from the community. Children and their families join the Rotarians for lunch at a local banquet hall. Children also have their photos taken for personalized Christmas cards,decorate gingerbread man cookies and enjoy a visit from Santa Claus who delights all children with a special gift especially for them. Every year a face painter visits and all children line up anxiously to have their face painted. Most children choose a Christmas based theme to have painted on their face. However our son Benjamin was clear who he wanted to be on this day. Although he is non verbal he is quite good at making us understand what he wants.Benjamin was sticking out his tongue and raising his hand in the air in a Gene pose as he anxiously waited his turn in line to have his face painted. There was no way he was settling for a Santa Claus or an Elf face at this years party! My wife and I attended one of the KISS concerts at Casino Rama in Orillia this year and we brought Benjamin a Alive 35 t-shirt back. Since then he has become a huge KISS fan.
