DC Show 10/12/09

Posted on 10/14/2009
I went to the DC concert last night, front row on the side, and next to an elderly women from India and her son. I guessed the son to be about my age, 40ish, so I was surprised he brought his mother. She asked me if was with the people sitting next to me. When I said no, "I came alone," she replied, "well now you are with us, so you're not alone anymore." After the concert started I thought Tommy was looking over at me and giving me the thumbs up, but quickly realized he was enjoying the elderly fan next to me, who was rocking out in her own unique way and standing up through most of the concert in her traditional outfit (I think Paul picked her out as well). Tommy threw out a pick, which landed at my feet. I gave it to the lady, since I'm sure it was intended for her and she was really happy. I thought it was strange since 30 years earlier, or so, Ace Freely had flung out a pick to my brother during Solid Gold (remember this show?). He brought it home from California and gave it to me. It was my lucky charm for some time and somehow I lost it. So here was the modern incarnation of that make up flinging another to me 30 years later (my first KISS concert by the way), and I gave it away. But fate would not be denied and a pick from the spaceman found it's way to me again. The elderly lady somehow got another one near the end of the show and gave it to me. One good turn begets another, I suppose. What a ton of fun. Great band, great crowd, great seatmates who adopted me for the concert. Glad I went "alone" and didn't miss these rock gods yet again.
