the detroit KISS show

Posted on 09/26/2009
I noticed something today while watching some clips of KISS at Cobo Hall Arena in Detroit, Michigan at KISSONLINE.COM. When someone panned around to get a shot of the crowd, I noticed that was THE arena from the ALIVE album. I knew they were playing there, but it was another thing altogether to see the architectural lines of the arena and put the video I was watching and the album cover Id looked at a million times together. And for a moment, though not sad for them, I had an idea of how KISS and all the fans there must have been feeling, seeing this place for, what could be, the last time. The first thing that came to mind was how it must feel for someone like Derek Jeter or Yogi Berra to have seen the last game played at Yankee Stadium. The point here being, has any band, or entity for that matter, ever been so closely associated with a venue or a city? I think not. And like most of us who see these places transition, ie. the new and old Yankee Stadium, it always brings a happy tear to our eyes when we think about the good times that brought us to where we are today. Thanx for all the great times.
